Willow Basketry Workshop
About
A two-day beginners' willow basketry workshop with Anna Liebmann, making an oval willow trug basket using traditional frame basketry techniques.
Master basket weaver Anna Liebmann leads a two-day workshop over consecutive Fridays at the Scottish Craft School in Dunblane, teaching frame basketry — a vernacular heritage technique. Participants start with a dried hoop and wooden ribs, weaving soaked willow into an oval trug basket with one central or two side handles, choosing from varied willow hues for banded patterns. Those who finish early can try small extra projects such as nut baskets, decorative stars and bird feeders. The course suits beginners and improvers, requires some hand strength, and is open to over-16s, with tools and materials included in the price.
