About
Martyn Barber tells the story of the 1906 Bronze Age barrow excavation at Manton and the strange reports that followed.
In 1906, Maud and Ben Cunnington excavated a Bronze Age barrow at Manton containing a female skeleton and grave goods now held at the museum. This talk follows the strange stories that arose after the excavation, including a newspaper’s visit by a medium known as the “Bayswater Seer”. Martyn Barber presents the talk on 31 October, 5–6:30pm.
