About
A Halloween talk by Martyn Barber on strange occurrences following the 1906 Manton barrow excavation, with a glass of wine at Wiltshire Museum.
Martyn Barber recounts the story of Maud and Ben Cunnington's first excavation in 1906, a Bronze Age round barrow at Manton near Marlborough containing a female skeleton and rich grave goods. The talk explores the strange occurrences that followed — a wailing banshee, blood on the walls and other unexplained events — which led a national newspaper to send a medium to Wiltshire to investigate. The event includes a glass of wine and runs from 5pm to 6.30pm on Halloween.
