About
Professor Laudan Nooshin delivers the RAI's 2026 Blacking Lecture, reflecting on two decades of applied music scholarship as cultural mediation.
The Royal Anthropological Institute's 2026 Blacking Lecture doubles as Laudan Nooshin's Inaugural Professorial Lecture at City St George's, University of London. Titled 'Building Bridges, Making a Difference: Reflections on Music Scholar as Cultural Mediator', it reflects on nearly 20 years of applied work, including an educational trip to Iran, a London Philharmonic Orchestra project, a children's book project, a sound project in a historic house, and her current Leverhulme Trust research on Polish refugees in Iran during World War 2. The lecture runs 5–6.30pm and is followed by a drinks reception.
