RAI Research Seminar: Aleksandar Bošković
About
Anthropologist Aleksandar Bošković gives a hybrid RAI research seminar on women forgotten or marginalised in the history of anthropology.
Aleksandar Bošković of the Institute of Archaeology, Belgrade examines the role of women in the history of anthropology, asking why figures such as Winifred Hoernlé, Zora Neale Hurston, Ruth Landes and Germaine Tillion were long omitted from narratives of the discipline's past. The lecture also considers how political narratives shape anthropological history, including challenges to decolonial accounts and the renaming of Kroeber Hall at Berkeley. The seminar runs 4-6pm GMT and is hybrid, with in-person attendance at the RAI in London or online via Zoom.
