Salman Toor: Someone Like You
About
The Courtauld hosts the first European solo exhibition of painter Salman Toor, showing 19 recent paintings exploring belonging, intimacy and identity.
This is the first solo exhibition in Europe by Salman Toor, the Lahore-born, New York-based painter known for his depictions of contemporary urban life. It brings together 19 paintings made since 2019, exploring friendship, love, solitude and the desire for cultural and emotional belonging, alongside a display of his drawings in the Gilbert and Ildiko Butler Drawings Gallery. Though fictional, Toor's figures and scenes are rooted in personal experience, depicting queer and immigrant lives caught between intimacy and exposure. The exhibition runs daily from 2 October 2026 to 10 January 2027, closing on 24-26 December and 1 January.
