Native Spirit Festival 20th Edition: Indigenous Arctic Cinema & Arts
About
An evening of Sámi, Kalaallisut, Inuk and Dene films with Q&A and an Alaska contemporary art display at The Polar Museum.
The 20th edition of the Native Spirit Festival brings a programme of Indigenous Arctic cinema to The Polar Museum, screening films by Sámi, Kalaallisut, Inuk and Dene filmmakers followed by a Q&A. Director, photographer and poet Dennis Inuk Aningaaq Møller from Kalaallit Nunaat (Greenland) appears in person, alongside Dr Charlotte Connolly, Head Curator at the National Science and Media Museum. A display of contemporary art and design by Iñupiaq and Inuit artists from Alaska and Nunavut, collected by Dr Connolly, accompanies the screenings, together with hands-on caribou pelt and moose hide mittens from the Native Spirit Foundation collection. The event runs for three hours.
