About
SPRI PhD student Phoebe Jackson gives a talk on the extreme impacts of atmospheric rivers on the Antarctic Ice Sheet.
Phoebe Jackson, a PhD candidate at the Scott Polar Research Institute, discusses atmospheric rivers in Antarctica. These systems of intense water vapour transport are examined for their influence on the surface processes of East Antarctic ice shelves. The talk explores how these extreme events, ranging from heavy snowfall to heatwaves, shape Antarctica’s mass balance and how they are changing under a warming climate.
