ERO Presents: How to dig up a castle
About
Simon Coxall presents the excavation of the Anglo-Saxon castle at Clavering, from community fieldwork to the surveys and historical research behind the dig.
Simon Coxall discusses the excavation of the early Anglo-Saxon castle at Clavering in north-west Essex. The talk covers results from the community excavation and the geophysical, LiDAR and hydrological surveys and historical research carried out before any ground was disturbed. Check-in, tea and coffee are available from 10:00; the talk begins at 10:40 and runs until 12:00. The public entrance is on the path beside the River Chelmer. ERO warns that Google Maps walking directions lead to the back of the building; its Getting Here page gives what3words knee/librarian/catch.
