Philosophy SIG Winter Conference 2026 - The Mind-Body Problem Revisited: Could Physics Help?
About
A one-day in-person conference exploring whether physics, quantum mechanics and computational theories can illuminate the mind-body problem and psychopathology.
The Royal College of Psychiatrists' Philosophy Special Interest Group hosts its winter conference on the mind-body problem, asking whether physics could reshape our understanding of reality, psychiatric phenomena and psychopathology. The day runs from 9:25am to 6:00pm and features talks including Karl Friston on 'From Synapse to Sentience', Danko Georgiev on a quantum information theoretic approach to consciousness, Jonathan Allday on Heisenberg and Bohm, and Avshalom C. Elitzur on interactionist dualism, alongside selected abstract presentations and a closing panel discussion. Attendees can earn 1 CPD point per hour attended, and an optional self-funded post-conference dinner is offered for networking.
