The Adventures of Prince Achmed (PG) + Craft Workshop

A screening of Lotte Reiniger's 1926 silhouette animation The Adventures of Prince Achmed preceded by a craft workshop hosted by Messy Brain Events.

This screening presents Lotte Reiniger's 1926 silhouette animation The Adventures of Prince Achmed, the earliest surviving animated feature film, preserved in the BFI National Archive. The film follows Prince Achmed as he flies a magic horse on adventures from Baghdad to China and through the spirit lands of Wak-Wak, made entirely by hand-cut card and lead sheets manipulated with wires. The session includes a pre-film craft workshop hosted by Messy Brain Events, for which tickets are booked separately and include free entry to the 1.30pm film.
