History & Wellbeing Walk
About
A free guided history and wellbeing walk around Derwenthaugh Park and the lower Derwent Valley led by Ramblers walk leader Kath.
Join local walk leader Kath for a friendly history walk exploring the lower Derwent Valley, covering around 2.5–3 miles at a comfortable, easy pace. The route mixes woodland, meadows and riverside paths while uncovering the history and heritage of Derwenthaugh Park and the valley, including a short climb of 33 steps and a gentle ascent to Kite Hill with rest stops as needed. Organised with Gateshead Council's Active Travel Public Health & Wellbeing, the walk is free but places are limited and booking is essential. Participants should dress for the outdoors with sturdy footwear and waterproofs as appropriate.
