New Ceremonies
About
A free exhibition of newly commissioned and recent work by Mal Parry, Bean Yazzie and Louise Siddons exploring trans identities, archives and queer joy.
New Ceremonies brings together newly commissioned and recent work by Mal Parry, Bean Yazzie and curator-artist Louise Siddons, exploring trans identities, colonial social relations and embodied community-building. Across installation, photography, print, audio, performance artefacts, sculpture and writing, the exhibition considers what exists beyond archival limits, foregrounding lived experience and collective knowledge as expansive archival practice. Parry's new commission refigures archival knowledge about Joan of Arc and Eleanor Rykener, while Yazzie's contribution builds on The Dilbaa Project, photographic and audio portraits of queer Diné people, and Siddons' work activates the embodied archive of queer social dance.
