Naeem Mohaiemen: Through a Mirror, Darkly
About
A free exhibition of Naeem Mohaiemen's three-channel film Through a Mirror, Darkly alongside new print and woodblock works exploring 1970s protest and memory.
John Hansard Gallery presents Naeem Mohaiemen's three-channel film Through a Mirror, Darkly, produced by Artangel, which examines the 1970 Kent State and Jackson State shootings and the racialised disparity in how the two tragedies were remembered. The exhibition also includes two new series made for the gallery — After Robert Rauschenberg: Surface(d) Prints and Ho Chi Minh Sarani — plus the earlier film Afsan's Long Day and the photo-text series Live True Life or Die Trying. Together the works explore protest, the 'long sixties' and the politics of memory.
