About
Photographs, objects, model ships and personal stories celebrate the ferry crews, engineers and shore staff who have sustained island communities across nearly two centuries.
Marking 175 years since the foundations of Caledonian MacBrayne, the exhibition explores the people and lifeline ferry services connecting west-coast communities. It draws on John Macdonald’s personal collection and memories shared by past and current CalMac employees. Comann Eachdraidh Uibhist a Tuath originated the concept, Comhairle nan Eilean Siar’s Heritage Team developed the exhibition, and CalMac Brand Design Lead David Ashmead is credited for the design.
