About

This exhibition traces how transport and communications transformed daily life across the Western Isles through stories of post routes, causeways, electricity and island memories.

The exhibition follows changes in how islanders travelled, communicated and lived, from post buses and mail routes to roads, causeways, air ambulance services, electric light and underwater cables. Residents contribute memories of the transition to modern communications. The exhibition is open Monday–Saturday, 10am–4pm during its published run; visitor admission is £3 for adults, £2 concession and free for children under 10.
