Event 72 | Maria Alyokhina | Political Girl
About
Pussy Riot's Maria Alyokhina presents her memoir Political Girl with readings, live music and conversation with Eric J. Breitenbach.
Maria Alyokhina, imprisoned after Pussy Riot's 2012 protest in Moscow's Cathedral of Christ the Saviour and later escaped Russia in 2022, presents her new book Political Girl: Life and Fate in Russia, a memoir and account of grassroots dissent. The Bridport appearance combines readings from the book with live music and conversation with fellow Pussy Riot member Eric J. Breitenbach, who performs the live score. The two will discuss their work in Pussy Riot, performance and direct action, and making art in response to political repression, war and state violence.
