Glenn Ligon: Prompts
About
An exhibition at Thomas Dane Gallery pairing earlier and new works by Glenn Ligon, including neons, colouring-book-based pieces and a new redaction painting.
Glenn Ligon's sixth exhibition with Thomas Dane Gallery brings together earlier and new works that inform, re-contextualise and 'prompt' one another. Highlights include mirrored 2026 neon templates Untitled (America) and Untitled (Double America), Black Panther Coloring Book #2 based on Akinsanya Kambon's 1968 drawings, and Redacted #15, a new painting redacting text from James Baldwin's essay 'Stranger in the Village'. The show continues Ligon's long-running self-referencing practice exploring American history, race and erasure.
