Bayang Rimba Jajek Mimpi (Shadows of the Jungle, Traces of Dreams)

An exhibition of paintings by Ian Halawi exploring childhood memories and identity in Brunei, shown in Blackburn Market's Arts Space.

Ian Halawi presents a new exhibition of paintings at Blackburn Market Arts Space, described as Lancashire's smallest gallery. The works draw on the artist's childhood memories and dreams in Brunei, revisiting images such as batik flowers, woven sarongs and the jungle following a return visit in 2025, and questioning his mixed-race identity and experience of moving to England. The exhibition can be viewed during market opening hours from 16 October until 14 November 2026.
