Event for Home Educating Families
About
A day at the King Richard III Visitor Centre for home educating families, with a facilitated 'Arming the Knight' session and self-led exhibition activities for children.
Home educating families can spend the day discovering King Richard III, with activities aimed at children aged 7 to 11 and linked to the KS2 History curriculum. At 10am a medieval re-enactor presents 'Arming the Knight', a 45-50 minute session exploring how a suit of armour was worn, including hands-on handling of armour pieces. Outside the facilitated session, families are free to explore the exhibition with a Discovery Pack, visit the cafe craft station and play the 'Lost in Time' game. Children with SEND needs are directed to a separate relaxed programme with afternoon facilitated sessions.
