The SAXONS

An immersive exhibition at Discover Bucks Museum exploring Buckinghamshire's early medieval Saxon past through real artefacts and three burial site stories.

The SAXONS is a major immersive exhibition exploring Buckinghamshire's early medieval past, now extended until 21 February 2027. It brings together archaeological discoveries from three burial sites — the princely burial at Taplow, the warlord burial at Marlow, and the Wendover Saxon Cemetery of 141 graves uncovered during HS2 works — displayed with real artefacts including loans from the British Museum and HS2 archaeology. Visitors are guided through the displays by three on-screen Saxons created with re-enactment specialists, with hands-on interactives, digital storytelling, a family trail and creative activities for all ages.
