An Enemy of the People (Dorchester Drama)
About
Dorchester Drama performs Ibsen's An Enemy of the People, updated to 2009, over three shows at Dorchester Corn Exchange in November.
Dorchester Drama stages Ibsen's An Enemy of the People in a version set in 2009, in which a spa town hit by the financial crash faces a medical officer's suspicion that the bathing waters are toxic. The production explores whether he should go public and how family, friends and the town would react, as idealism, pragmatism and ambition collide. The company notes the play's resonance with contemporary debates about toxic water, toxic culture and cancellation. There are three performances: Friday evening and Saturday matinee and evening.
