The Beloved

A celebrated but troubled film director casts his estranged daughter in his latest picture, and their time together on set rekindles a bond while reopening wounds from a violent, excessive past.

This Spanish-language drama follows legendary filmmaker Esteban Martínez, who offers his daughter Emilia a part in his new film, ostensibly to revive her stalled acting career. Working side by side, father and daughter grow closer than they have in years, yet the experience also stirs up painful history neither has fully confronted. Directed by Rodrigo Sorogoyen, the film stars Javier Bardem alongside Victoria Luengo.
