Hogarth and the 18th Century Sex Trade

An immersive evening exploring the reality behind Hogarth's depictions of London's 18th-century sex trade, with a costumed guided tour and a talk by Maria.

The evening begins with a storytelling journey through the galleries led by a costumed 18th-century 'Covent Garden Lady', introducing the real people behind Hogarth's images such as Gin Lane and A Harlot's Progress. Visitors can then explore the galleries at leisure before joining speaker Maria in the lecture room for a talk on the facts, figures and case studies of the 18th-century sex trade and its echoes today. A question session follows, with a bar serving drinks including Mother's Ruin.
