RSA Debate: Soft Power: Challenges, Opportunities & Solutions

A full-day RSA debate at the French Institute of Scotland exploring the future of soft power through culture, heritage, diplomacy and technology.

This full-day RSA Fellowship event examines how soft power — influence through attraction and persuasion rather than coercion — is evolving as global dynamics shift. Speakers from diplomacy, heritage, festivals and academia will discuss the role of culture and heritage in international perceptions, the rise of emerging powers, and how digital technologies, social media and AI are transforming public diplomacy. Sessions run from 9am to 4pm and are aimed at RSA Fellows and professionals in culture, heritage, diplomacy and international relations.
