RLPO presents – Bolt’s War
About
The Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra performs the world premiere of Alan Bolt's Festival Overture alongside Vaughan Williams, Butterworth, Carwithen and Ravel.
This remembrance-themed concert centres on Alan Bolt, a local composer and music director who, while a prisoner of war in WWII, formed an orchestra in his camp and composed a Festival Overture that was never performed before his liberation. The programme presents the work's world premiere in an arrangement by Jackson, alongside Vaughan Williams's The Lark Ascending, Doreen Carwithen's Suffolk Suite, Butterworth's The Banks of Green Willow and Ravel's Le Tombeau de Couperin. Andrew Manze conducts with violinist Braimah Kanneh-Mason.
