Introduction to Hand Embroidery Workshop in Durham
About
A three-hour beginner workshop in Durham teaching hand embroidery basics, from threading a needle to a range of stitches, ending with your own sampler.
This three-hour workshop at The Weigh To Shop in Pity Me, Durham, takes novices through the basics of hand embroidery. Participants learn how to thread a needle, choose fabrics and threads and use an embroidery hoop, then practise a selection of stitches worked traditionally and altered for new effects. Each person works on their choice of fabric to create a unique hand embroidery sampler, and all materials are included, with a curated gift box to take home so creativity can continue afterwards. The shop is closed to the public during the session, and free tickets are available for carers not taking part.
