About
A light-hearted talk by Alan Caig tracing how pantomime developed from Italian street theatre into British theatre's financial bedrock.
Alan Caig, a former Head of Leisure and Museums for Exeter City Council and lifelong amateur theatre performer, gives a light-hearted talk on the origins and evolution of pantomime. He traces its development from Italian street theatre to its current role as the financial mainstay of theatres across the country, noting how critics and audiences have long insisted it was better in their youth. The event is organised by the Exeter Local History Society and lasts two hours.
