Black History Month: Alain Gomis' DAO
About
A Black History Month screening of Alain Gomis' DAO with a live Q&A featuring lead actor D'Johé Kouadio.
DAO weaves together two ceremonies marking one family's journey through love and loss: in the French countryside, Gloria marries off her daughter Nour, while in Guinea-Bissau she honours her late father, welcomed among the ancestors. Blending documentary and fiction, with the cast playing tender, unguarded versions of themselves, the film explores migration, memory and legacy across generations and continents. It is shown in French, Wolof, Manjak and Portuguese Creole with English subtitles, runs 185 minutes and is rated 15. This Black History Month screening is followed by a live Q&A with lead actor D'Johé Kouadio.
