Empty Chairs: The Globe

A free, informal social evening where an Empty Chairs host reserves a pub table with spare chairs so anyone seeking company can drop in for a chat.

Empty Chairs is a low-pressure social initiative tackling loneliness: a host books a table in a pub, leaves chairs empty and welcomes anyone who wants company. Hosts wear something orange and stay at the table for at least an hour from 7pm. Joining is free with no agenda or expectation to stay; attendees only pay for their own drinks if they choose to have any.
