Beyond Afflictions: Christianity and Buddhism on the Bonds of Suffering
About
A dialogue between a Buddhist geshe and a Dominican friar exploring how Christianity and Buddhism explain the roots of suffering and freedom from it.
This public discussion asks what the bonds at the root of human suffering are, approaching the question from the Dominican Christian and Indo-Tibetan Buddhist traditions. Geshe Tenzin Namdak, Jamyang's resident teacher, and Fr Reginald Mary Chua OP, an Australian Dominican friar, compare concepts such as confession and mindfulness and divine forgiveness and dependent origination, seeking common ground while preserving what makes each tradition distinct. The format is a two-hour exchange with time for questions from the room and from online attendees. Registration is available to join online.
