Wood, from utility to beauty
About
This 2026 exhibition presents practical wooden objects from Kiplin’s collection, including kitchen and dairy items, and explores Beatrice Carpenter’s local craft and community work.
The second-floor exhibition brings objects from Kiplin’s wooden collection into focus. The Annie Marchant Kitchen and Dairy Collection shows useful everyday items, while displays examine Beatrice Carpenter’s work with the Home Arts and Industries Association and local community through her inlaid furniture designs. A digital version is available on a ground-floor tablet because the exhibition room is reached by stairs and there is no lift. The exhibition is open 11:00–17:00 on Hall opening days; the Hall is normally closed Thursdays, with an extra opening on 26 November 2026.
