AC Peak Lecture - Paul Ramsden - First Ascent of Surma-Sarovar
About
Mountaineer Paul Ramsden lectures on the first ascent of Surma-Sarovar, a remote 6,605-metre peak in Nepal, at Outside Café in Hathersage.
Paul Ramsden, one of Britain's leading exploratory mountaineers and a five-time Piolets d'Or recipient, presents the next Alpine Club Peak District Winter Lecture. He recounts the 2023 expedition to the remote Salimor Khola valley in far-west Nepal with Tim Miller, Matt Glenn and Hamish Frost, culminating in the first ascent of the 6,605-metre Surma-Sarovar by its 2,100-metre north face. The talk covers the approach, the four-day ED-graded climb in lightweight alpine style, and the hazardous eight-day return, followed by audience questions. Doors open at 7pm, the lecture starts at 7.30pm and lasts about an hour.
