The Bridgwater Wireless Station (and Others in Somerset)
About
A free temporary exhibition curated by Larry Bennett about Bridgwater’s Wireless Station and related Somerset sites, including its role in the Imperial Wireless initiative and early transoceanic telegraph links with Canada and South Africa. Artefacts and information are shown alongside the museum’s other exhibits.
The exhibition runs from 7 October to 7 November 2026. Curated by Larry Bennett, it covers Bridgwater Wireless Station and other Somerset sites. The station was built by Marconi for the GPO as part of the Imperial Wireless initiative and formed part of the first UK transoceanic wireless telegraph service linking Britain with Canada and South Africa. The exhibition presents artefacts and information alongside the museum’s other exhibits. Entry is free; donations are welcome. The Friends' current visiting information gives Wednesday–Saturday, 10:00–16:00, with last entry at 15:00; the museum is closed Sunday–Tuesday.
