Herne Hill, After the Flood
About
A 90-minute guided walk around Herne Hill exploring public art, the 2013 flood and local history, meeting at Herne Hill station.
Diana Bromwich of the Lambeth Tour Guides Association leads a 90-minute walk through Herne Hill, the South London district straddling Lambeth and Southwark. The route looks at the aftermath of the 2013 flood that closed local shops, cafes and restaurants for months, including the 'Flying Boots Eyes on Fire' installation by Caroline McCarthy, commissioned by the Herne Hill Forum with Half Moon Lane traders. Along the way the walk takes in the area's art, history and personalities, including links to Bono, Michael Crawford and Dylan Thomas.
