Collaboration

Hayling Island Amateur Dramatic Society stages Ronald Harwood's drama about Richard Strauss and Stefan Zweig's partnership under the Nazi regime.

HIADS presents Ronald Harwood's Collaboration, a drama set in Germany in 1931 as composer Richard Strauss and Jewish writer Stefan Zweig begin work on a new opera. As the Nazis tighten their grip, Strauss faces an impossible bargain that could protect his family or betray his friend. The play explores art, friendship and conscience through the compromises people make to survive. Performances run Thursday, Friday and Saturday evenings at 7:30pm from 23 to 31 October.
