Music in Depth and Context — Spring 2027 (PA0175)

Explore Western classical music through guided listening, discussion and study of works in their historical and cultural settings.

The group studies two or three composers or works each term, selected with the tutor. Listening, scores, readings and discussion develop analytical language and understanding of musical periods and styles. Some ability to follow written music is helpful. Learners may give short presentations and keep a listening journal. 10-week course; Wednesday classes advertised 15:30–17:30. The full intake runs 2027-01-20 to 2027-03-24; contact the centre for the individual class calendar.
