About
A talk by The Arts Society Southport on Dickens's festive stories and his role in popularising "Merry Christmas".
The Arts Society Southport presents a talk exploring Charles Dickens's life and times through a Christmas lens. Dickens was nicknamed Jolly Old Christmas thanks to the popular festive short stories he wrote, and he was the first novelist to use the words "Merry Christmas", starting a trend that endures today. The talk takes place in the Theatre at The Atkinson, with tickets booked by email.
