Early Music 20: Vocatio : Responsio

An early music concert pairing Lully and Corelli trios with Couperin's L'apothéose de Lully, exploring the fusion of French and Italian styles.

This Early Music 20 concert, subtitled 'Cultural Friendship: Couperin's Fantasy', examines Couperin's attempt to unite French and Italian musical cultures through his tribute to Lully, who famously disdained the Italian style. The programme includes excerpts from Lully's Trios de la Chambre du Roi, Corelli's Trio Sonata in A Major Op.3 No.4, and Couperin's L'apothéose de Lully. Two performances take place at 4:30pm and 7pm.
