Eugene Onegin

Opera North performs Tchaikovsky's Eugene Onegin in a new production re-imagined in 1980s Russia, sung in Russian with English subtitles.

Opera North presents Tchaikovsky's most popular opera in a brand-new production re-imagined in 1980s Russia, a co-production with Irish National Opera and Opera Queensland. The story follows Tatyana, who falls in love with the cynical Eugene Onegin and is rejected, only for him to realise too late, years later, that he loves her. The performance runs 3 hours 15 minutes including an interval, is sung in Russian with English subtitles, and features a live orchestra and chorus. The evening performance starts at 7pm and a pre-show talk is offered.
