Set Foot in Scotland

Walk from Hethpool to the border and the Stob Stones before returning through the College Valley.

This challenging circular walk starts at Hethpool, follows St Cuthbert’s Way and visits Laddies Know, Ring Chesters and Eccles Cairn before briefly crossing into Scotland to see the Stob Stones. The route returns through Wideopen Head and Trowupburn; it is eight and a half miles with 1,485 feet of ascent, rated Strenuous 9.
