Grenfell by Steve McQueen
About
Steve McQueen's film artwork Grenfell, a permanent record of Grenfell Tower filmed before it was covered, is shown at The Box Plymouth as part of a season on home, housing and community.
Steve McQueen filmed Grenfell Tower in December 2017, before it was covered with hoarding, creating a permanent record of the fire in which 72 people died. First presented at Serpentine in 2023 after private viewings for bereaved families and survivors, the work is now in the care of Tate and the London Museum and is touring nationally. At The Box Plymouth it forms a major part of an autumn/winter season exploring home, housing and community, with screenings once an hour from 10am to 3pm (12pm on Christmas Eve and New Year's Eve). Free tickets must be booked in advance, as latecomers cannot be admitted once the work has started.
