The Leicester City, County & Rutland At Risk War Memorials Project Talk
About
A talk on the work of the Leicester City, County and Rutland At Risk War Memorials Project, with a display of WWI archive material.
This talk explores what constitutes a war memorial, from traditional forms to surprising variations, and asks which is Leicestershire's oldest and largest. It covers why memorials matter, how the At Risk War Memorials Project began, and examples of memorials in its care, including tragedies and triumphs. Archive volunteers will also display documents, books and artefacts relating to Fred and Digby Marriott of Cotesbach, who died in WWI and are commemorated in stained glass at St Mary's Church. Attendees can sign up to get involved with the Project's work.
