About
An evening talk by Leonard Holden on the 1607 enclosure riots in Cotesbach and their wider history.
Leonard Holden gives an evening talk on the enclosure riots that took place in Cotesbach in 1607, when a gathering of around 5,000 people assembled in a village of fewer than 90 inhabitants. The talk sets the event in the context of enclosure riots across the country during the 1600s, which displaced thousands and severed communities' ties to land, nature and food, with rising tensions in Warwickshire, Northamptonshire and Leicestershire descending into violence. The session lasts 90 minutes and takes place in person.
