Reclaiming Creative Materials with Significant Seams (AM Session)
About
A hands-on volunteering 'sew-cial' with Significant Seams, sorting and reclaiming undervalued creative materials into craft supply packs.
Significant Seams, an art for mental health and wellbeing organisation, hosts an in-person volunteering session at Karen Gutans Art in Crediton. Participants help process materials others might overlook — rotary cutting fabric, ironing, sorting industry waste wool and packaging materials, and occasionally trialling craft kits — which are turned into kits and supply packs that fund equal participation for people in vulnerable life moments. The two-hour session is framed as a social occasion for anyone interested in art, environmentalism or simply connecting with fellow creatives, and is intended as the start of a monthly, possibly weekly, group.
