About
An illustrated lunchtime talk at The London Archives tracing the history of the Crystal Palace and the 1936 fire that destroyed it.
Tom Furber, an Engagement and Learning Officer at The London Archives, gives an illustrated talk marking 90 years since the fire of 30 November 1936 that destroyed the Crystal Palace. Using vivid 19th-century prints and early photographs from the archive's collections, he retraces the building's story from its inception through its move from Hyde Park to Sydenham, its demise, and its afterlife as a public park. The talk takes place in person only and lasts one hour.
