Nicola Turner: I Tear Secrets From Your Yielding Flesh

Nicola Turner creates a site-responsive installation of wool and horsehair for the gallery’s Hanover Square townhouse, drawing on the building’s history and the memory carried by materials.

The ground-floor installation extends from the gallery into a 12-metre procession up the townhouse façade. It uses dark wool, horsehair and salvaged objects to consider secret-keeping, gendered shame and material memory, with references to the building’s histories of chemistry and couture.
