Make Your Cut: Film Writing Workshop with Jack Hartley

A free hands-on film writing workshop for ages 16–30 led by award-winning writer-director Jack Hartley, covering how to shape a story and write scenes for screen.

Part of the Make Your Cut project, this one-day workshop takes participants from a first idea to a finished short film script, learning how to shape a story and write scenes that work on screen. It is led by Jack Hartley, a North of England writer and director whose short films have won awards including Best Short at BAFTA-qualifying Raindance, and who was selected for the Channel 4 Writing for TV Awards 2025 with Warp Films. The session runs 10am–4pm with a break (food not provided), is open to anyone aged 16–30 with no previous experience needed, and under-18s must be signed up by a parent or guardian.
