Jeezus!
About
Alpaqa's award-winning musical about a Peruvian altar boy's crisis of faith and desire, blending live music, dark humour and Latin heat.
Set in 1990s Peru under the Fujimori dictatorship, JEEZUS! follows altar boy Jesús as he prepares for his first communion in the home of General José and his wife María, while developing unholy feelings about the figure on the cross. The show mixes live music, new songs, dark humour and queer themes in a story where Catholic guilt collides with unrepentant queerness. Created by migrant-led company Alpaqa, the production won the 2025 Untapped Award and returns after success at the Edinburgh Fringe. Running time is approximately 70 minutes and it is recommended for ages 16+.
