Threads of Identity Talk & Creative Workshop
About
An illustrated talk and creative workshop exploring the stories held in a Caribbean woman's 1950s cocktail dress, open to women and girls aged 14+.
Threads of Identity combines an illustrated talk with an interactive creative workshop, using a Caribbean woman's 1950s cocktail dress as a lens on memory, migration, glamour and cultural identity. Through photography and heritage practice, participants explore Caribbean heritage, colonialism, racism in the fashion industry, making and remaking, resilience and self-expression. The session ends with a creative activity inviting attendees to respond to a garment, textile or object connected to their own identity and family story. It is open to women and girls aged 14 and over.
